Description

The division was formed on 1 April 1908. It was mobilized at the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939. The division remained in the United Kingdom during the Battle of France, moving to the Middle East in November 1942, where it served in Iraq and Palestine. In 1943 it moved to Egypt and then Tunisia, to fight in the Tunisian Campaign.
