Description

The battalion was formed on 18 October 1927. It remained inactive for 14 years and first saw action in December 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor. In summer 1942 the battalion was deployed to Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands to participate in the Guadalcanal Campaign.
