Description

Jagdgeschwader 1 was formed in 1939 and consisted of one group until reinforcement in 1942, after which it achieved the status of a full-fledged squadron. Until early June 1944, the group was used to defend the Reich in northern Germany and the Netherlands. After the start of the Allied landings in Normandy, the squadron was transferred to France to repel the onslaught of the Allied forces.
