Feodosi Smolyachkov (1923-1942) was a Red Army sniper on the Leningrad Front. In late 1941 he killed more than a hundred enemy soldiers and helped start the sniper movement in his division by training other soldiers. He was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and died on 15 January 1942 near Pulkovo, hit by a German sniper.
