Named after / based on: Grant Frederick Timmerman
Grant Timmerman (1919-1944) was a US Marine tank commander. On 8 July 1944 on Saipan he stood up in the open turret to warn the infantry before firing the main gun. When a Japanese grenade flew towards the open turret, he covered the opening with his own body and was killed, sparing his crew. He received the Medal of Honor. His role matches the game's tanker class.
