Heinrich Severloh (1923-2006) was a German soldier of the 352nd Infantry Division who manned a machine gun at strongpoint WN 62 above Omaha Beach on D-Day. In his later memoir he claimed to have caused over a thousand casualties among the landing troops. Historians treat these claims with caution.
